Finding Moments for Tiny Delights.

“I have never been a millionaire. But I have enjoyed a crackling fire, a glorious sunset, a walk with a friend, and a hug from a child. There are plenty of life’s tiny delights for all of us.” Jack Anthony

Tonight as I sat on my bed working a bit while the kids were out with with Nana H. out for a walk, I answered emails and planned my busy day tomorrow.  As I typed, I heard the bustling from our entry way and the pitter patter of 2 little feet coming down the hall.  I could hear E squealing as she conversed with anyone who would listen from her stroller.

The door to our room cracked distinctly and there he was, his blond curls bouncing on his head as he waddled toward me.The S on his Superman T-shirt protruding slightly on his little toddler belly.

“Maaaama”

“Hi bug,” I said softly as I scooped him up with his arms outstretched for me to grab him.

The light in the bedroom was getting dim as the sun set.

I could smell the fresh, crisp air on his chubby cheeks as I pulled his face to mine for a kiss.

He wrapped around his arms around my neck and gave me a hug and turned abruptly to point at the TV and say “Mi.”

“No Moose right now bug,” I said referring to his insatiable desire to watch the Nick Jr. cartoon Moose any time he sees the TV remote.

More words, more independence.

A moment filled with tiny delight with my Q.

“Mynewfavoriteday,’

I wish you a day with many tiny delights with loved ones, friends, a passion, a hobby, everything and anything that gives your heart light. What tiny delights  help make today ‘yournewfavoriteday?’

  1. Do you know “Grace in Small Things” (I think I’ve asked you this before) – it’s a wonderful link-up and this post seems exactly that: finding the moments in a day that make us breathe and think “okay, this life I have here is just exactly right.” Lovely.

  2. I love that turn of phrase, ‘tiny delights’. Because they may be tiny, but the joy is indescribably big.

Mine is my son, cliche and expected as that may sound. Like today, he smiled at me for no reason other than that he was happy. And that made me happy. A tiny delight.

    1. Yes, totally agree Alison you nailed it, the moment may be tiny but the joy is indescribably big.

As far as I am concerned it’s never a cliche to say your tiny delight is our kids…they are walking moments of indescribable joy! I love knowing that other parents feel the same.
