“A child’s spirit is like a child, you can never catch it by running after it; you must stand still, and, for love, it will soon itself come back.” ~ Arthur Miller
Ok, so I have to start by saying how much fun I had yesterday getting everyone’s suggestions about what we and the minis should be for Halloween.
Due to the popular response, I am going to put it up to the vote based on my favorite nominations. Although there were many good ones, as part of this blog I know my limitations and anything involving spray paint probably isn’t going to happen, so the following selections are spray paint free. Somehow, unfortunately for me (and others that will see me) some of the dress up options involve spandex, but they are fun family options so I will put them out there and then go home and work out:)
Here we go…and please please please comment and tell us which ones we should be. You don’t have to say why, although I do want to include one particular comment from our friend E through Facebook, when she suggested one of the costume ideas, because it was just so darn sweet and it is nice to show you all how wonderful and supportive you all are even off this comment page (although I love the comments here because I think they are so nice for others to read and be inspired by, you just never know who might be going through something similar to you).
Anyhoo, back to the fun. Drum roll please, insert patter sound…..
1. The Flintstones. As I see it, KSP is Fred, I am Wilma, Q is Bam Bam (we are stealing him from the Rubbles) and E is Pebbles:

2. Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Q is Thing 1 and E is Thing 2 (birth order so no mental trauma) and we can be The Cat in the Hat.

3.Wonderwoman and Superman (big and little) – this is from our friend Erin – “I think this is an easy one – superheroes. That’s what you all are, no doubt about it for the way you’ve all faced and surmounted these past two plus years. Wonderwoman, Superman, and mini wonderwoman and superman???!!! Take your pick, no matter what superhero on the outside, you’re all already living it on the inside. Xoxo” – Thanks Erin, it’s just lovely.
As an aside, these costumes will require and extra large cape and a potential variation because I can assure you there will be no bustiers for me or E:)

4. Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy and John. Submitted by our friend Kirsten who had so many good ideas but again, I am not so crafty or creative so things that are easily executable are a priority.

Silly fun like this reminds me how being a child can bring such life to your soul and with this small exercise of standing still, feeling love in my heart for my family and all of you for helping us, I can feel the happiness creep in and take it’s place in my heart and head. I hope that as you play this game with me (very critical stakes of course), you will feel the same light I feel in my heart right now. Thank you for voting, as I want to know what we will be for Halloween and thanks for helping to make this ‘mynewfavoriteday’ I hope it will be yours as well.
I will announce on Monday so there will be time over the weekend to leave your comments. xoxo
Rather than Superman and Wonder Woman I think you four should be the Incredibles for obvious reasons. My Mr. Incredible agrees with me. Since that isn’t an option, I’ll go with the Flintstones. Q would make the cutest Bam Bam 🙂
I think the Flintstones would be perfect!
I dressed my dogs up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 a few years ago… poor things. Now we have a wee one and he will be a dinosaur for his first halloween. I mean, he isn’t really going to care anyway, right?
That’s hilarious…I am sure the dogs were thinking what the heck is going on with this blue hair. Awww little dinosaur. Super cute. They don’t care it’s definitely for us although if there is a hat, that’s not such a big hit.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 is awesome
i’m still thinking Flinstones would be fun and retro – but if you can’t get S to wear his share, Thing 1&2 is adorable! 🙂
I’m loving Flintstones!! Perfect mix of family appropriate fun but you can glam yourself up a bit, too, if you want! Photos, please!
I like the Flintstones!!
Bambam & Pebbles … Perfect … !!
i think the Flinstones woudl be amazing.. and getting Scott to dress up as Fred would be pretty hilarious.. Thankfully you already have the red hair for Wilma! Great seeing you today. xxoo
Ha! It was so great, apparently spontaneity works better for us and thanks for inviting us. I think I would have some convincing to do, but we shall see tomorrow. xoxo miss you!
