Theme of the week, “It takes a village to raise a child”

I hope everyone had a lovely Father’s Day.

I spent my weekend being reminded just how true it is that “it takes a village to raise a child” and so this week in different ways my blog is dedicated to that notion. On Saturday, I took part in the Hollywood for Habitat, Habitat for Humanity build where we worked along side the future homeowners and their children as we constructed the housing development they will move into in a few months.  As always, it was an extremely powerful experience and reminder which I will post about in the coming days, but for today, remember that “taking a village” can mean everything from helping to watch a friend’s child so she can eat what’s in front of her, to gifting money to an organization like Habitat, to volunteering for an organization even for a day, to offering to pick up paper towels for a friend if you are going to Target.  All of these things better our communities and families both close to home and on a much larger scale.  And even the simplest gesture can help make today, ‘yournewfavoriteday’.

Families, friends and globally small gestures make a big difference.
